Sheetmetal Industries Ltd was formed 1999.

SMI (Sheetmetal Industries Ltd) has its office and manufacturing workshop in Rotorua, which enables effective quality control and management.

SMI is able to provide a wide range of design manufacture and installation skills within the building and engineering trades, and to continue its policy of expansion and development has become proficient in alloy boat manufacturing and design for many years.

As the company has expanded and developed, it has successfully covered the majority of engineering services within the building industry and almost every other facet of general engineering. Hence its slogan “We Can Do Almost Anything”.

At Hybrid Electrical we offer a range of services across the electrical industry, specializing in marine vessels and power generation. The various marinas and Auckland’s port give us access to a range of customers from superyachts to commercial vessels. We are skilled in the installation, repair, and upgrades of all major generator control systems such as Deif, Woodward, Comap, and Deep Sea.

Our land-based work includes industrial factory and automation plant servicing. We can design and install system upgrades, implement planned preventative maintenance, and rectify system breakdowns for critical plant.

Dan Leech Naval Architecture Ltd

Dan Leech is a naval architect graduate from the Westlawn Institute of Marine Technology, and a qualified boat builder. He has worked as a naval architect for 14 years. He has been lucky to work under some of the best boat builders and designers in the world and has gained a high level of experience working on boats that range from high performance composite race yachts and power boats, to pleasure yachts and launches, to commercial aluminium work boats.

Dan has experience in computer 3D modelling, drawing, and creating detailed CNC cut files for over 350 boats that range in materials from composite, aluminium, steel and plywood. He believes having the practical experience of hands on boat building is a very good grounding for good design practice.

Royal Institution of Naval Architects NZ Division

The Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA), is an internationally renowned professional institution whose members are involved at all levels in the design, construction, maintenance and operation of marine vessels and structures. Members of RINA are widely represented in industry, universities and colleges, and maritime organisations in over ninety countries.

The Naval Architects Society of New Zealand became incorporated into RINA NZ in 2001.  The Division aims to represent the views of it’s members and provide access to talks, and services.
